Reginald John Webber
January 1, 1922 - November 22, 2012
WEBBER: Reginald John passed away peacefully on Nov. 22, 2012
at the age of 90, on what would have been his 66th wedding
anniversary, with his family at his side.
Reg was born Jan. 1, 1922 in Shoal Lake, MB, the youngest of
five children. Reg was predeceased by his parents; his wife
Joy; sisters Joan, Hazel, Muriel; brother Norman; and all of his
brothers and sisters-in-law except for Raymond and Lillian Hill and
Jack Harmon. Left to mourn his passing are his children, grandchildren,
great grandson and many nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful father
and father-in-law to Ken (Shirley), Elaine (Sandy) and Garry (Janice)
and an amazing grandpa to Denis, Nancy, Andrea, Lindsay, Alison and
Lee and proud great grandpa to Luke. Reg spent his early years in
Shoal Lake, Decker and Crandall. He left school in Grade 8, but he
was one of the smartest and wisest men we knew.
On Nov. 22, 1946 he married Joy Hill of Miniota and they farmed
for many years in the Crandall district, raising their family here. He
was a very active member of the community, being involved with the
church, the community hall and the rink. Reg and Joy retired to Hamiota
in 1985. Reg moved to Lilac Residence in Hamiota in 2009
where he lived until his health started to fail in 2011. He spent
some time in hospital and then just after his 90th birthday he became a
resident of the Riverdale Personal Care Home in Rivers. We all have
fond memories of times spent together, golf games, cribbage
games, holidays and special family events that we were able to share
with him. We were fortunate to have had such a wonderful man as
a father, grandfather and mentor.
We are very proud of the legacy that he has left for us to remember.
A private family service was held at Crandall cemetery on Tuesday,
Nov. 27, 2012. If friends and family desire donations may be made to
the Lung Association of Manitoba.
